Setouchi Minato no yado
Restoring historic buildings
Onomichi is a port town that flourished as a center of trade for many centuries. In order to pass down the historic buildings that remain here to future generations, we have worked with architects and architectural historians to revitalize these buildings into private accommodations where you can enjoy an ordinary day in the Seto Inland Sea as if you were living in the house.
Setouchi Minato no Yado has revitalized two historic buildings into accommodation facilities. Shimazui Manor is a Western-style house built in 1931, located along the approach to the hilltop temple of Senkoji. Retaining its original exterior appearance overlooking the Onomichi Channel, the relaxing space melds Japanese and Western styles, as well as past and present. Izumo House is a renovated estate surrounded by white plaster walls dating back to the Edo period. Surrounded by the beauty of the sukiya-style architecture, the garden with its seasonal colors, and the townscape around the Onomichi Channel, here you can feel the calm rhythms of the town.
